Week 4 District 24-5A Predictions

Each week here at TPI we take a look at the upcoming match-ups across the area. We break it down on a game by game basis by district, and give you the inside track on who to watch, and what games to see. This week most schools in the area are looking to get their seasons back on track after Hurricane Ike.

Friday's Games:

Clear Brook (0-2) vs Clear Creek (1-1)

The Clear Brook Wolverines come into the week without having won a game this season, and yet they have pretty impressive numbers. They are led by QB Lane Berry and RB Brandon Ellison. As a team the Wolverines are averaging 4.8 yards per carry and over 277 yards a game rushing.
The Clear Creek Wildcats have averaged 333 yards of offense (178 yards rushing/155 yards passing) through the first two contests of the season. The Wildcats are led on offense by QB Marcus Mata and RB Nick Mencacci. Defensively the Wildcats are led by Texas commit Marcus Davis at safety.

Prediction: Wildcats by 13

Alvin (0-2) vs Dickinson (2-0)

The Alvin Yellowjackets come into this weeks match-up without a win as well. They are led by Junior ATH Ashton Jefferson who has amassed a gaudy 436 all-purpose yards and 4 touchdowns, including a 93 yard kick-off return in week 1.
The Dickinson Gators are still undefeated heading into this weeks action and are led by Senior QB Brody Trahan who is committed to Baylor. Trahan is responsible for 9 touchdowns and 409 yards of total offense (230 passing yards 6 TD's, 179 rushing yards 3 TD's). Gator's RB Corey Thomas is averaging 8 yards per carry and has 3 touchdowns on the season.

Prediction: Gators by 21

Brazoswood (1-1) vs Clear Springs (2-1)

The Brazoswood Buccaneers come into this week averaging 210 yards rushing a game through the first two weeks, and are led by a pair of running backs in Travis Lundy (233 yards rushing 4 TD's) and Alvin Samual (144 yards rushing 2 TD's).
The Clear Springs Chargers are one of only a few teams in the Houston are who have managed to play 3 games this year. The Chargers are a one point loss to Sharpstown in week 2 away from being undefeated. The Chargers average 237 yards of offense a game and are led by QB Philip Miller (284 passing yards 1 TD, 196 rushing yards 4 TD's)

Prediction: Clear Springs by 7

Clear Lake vs The Woodlands

The Clear Lake Falcons come into their match-up this week averaging 346 yards a game with ther daunting option attack. They are led on offense by QB Eric Canas (147 rushing yards 1 TD, 1 passing TD), and a duo of running backs in Jarred Mack (249 rushing yards 1TD) and Randall Hollimon (179 rushing yards 2 TD's). Defensively Stephen Barrera, a Texas A&M commit, anchors the line, and the Falcons place kicker Dustin Hopkins, a Florida State commit, is considered by many to be the best in the nation in this year's class.
The Woodlands Highlanders come off two very impressive victories to start the season. A 42-0 shutout of Cy-Fair in week 0, and a 47-0 shutout of defending state champion Katy in week 1. The Highlanders are led offensively by QB Andy McCloud, ATH Ryan Eastman and Sophomore standout RB Daniel Lasco. Defensively the Highlanders are anchored by DB Daniel Rowe and LB Clay Latimer.

Prediction Highlanders by 17

IDLE this week are the Galveston Ball Tors who try to recover from the lingering effects of Hurricane Ike. Our thoughts and prayers are certainly with them and their community in this rebuilding time.
