Week 4 District 24-4A Predictions

Each week here at TPI we take a look at the upcoming match-ups across the area. We break it down on a game by game basis by district, and give you the inside track on who to watch, and what games to see. This week most schools in the area are looking to get their seasons back on track after Hurricane Ike.

Friday's Games

Alvin Manvel (0-2) vs Pearland Dawson (1-0)

The Manvel Mavericks, playing their first varsity season, come into week 4 still looking for their first win. They look to gain some consistency on offense led by QB Dexter Foreman (225 passing yards 1TD, 94 yards rushing 1 TD), RB Jeremy Ragland (45 yards rushing, 30 yards receiving), and WR Chris Colwell (106 yards receiving 1 TD). The defense looks to remain formidable after forcing 5 turnovers in their first game and coming up with another one in game 2. Defensively The Mavericks have been led by DL Reggie Rivera (2 fumble recoveries) and DB Telley Missouria (1 INT).
The Dawson Eagles won their inaugural varsity contest in week 1, and look to carry the momentum into this week. QB Darian Lazard (68 yards passing 1TD, 201 yards rushing 1 TD), RB Akeem Blackshire (103 yards rushing 3 TD), and RB Xavier Brown (60 yards rushing 1 TD) paced the Eagles in week 1. Also chipping in were a pair of WR in Micah Tillotson and Marcus Vaughn who each had a receiving TD.

Prediction: Eagles by 7

Santa Fe (1-0) vs Freeport Brazosport (1-1)

The Santa Fe Indians opened their season in week 1 with a victory over Sam Rayburn 17-16 in overtime. They were led by QB Justin Sumrall (40 yards passing 1 TD, 78 yards rushing), RB Brittain Moya (72 yards rushing 1 TD), and WR Cody Platt who caught a 25 yard TD pass in OT to put the Indians up.
The Brazosport Exporters come in to week 4 led by RB Gary Bivens (343 rushing yards 3 TD, 39 receiving yards), and QB Iwest Strambler (131 passing yards 1 TD, 1 TD rushing). Both schools were effected directly by Hurricane Ike and are looking to get their seasons back on track,

Prediction: Exporters by 10

La Marque (0-2) vs Angleton (1-2)

The La Marque Cougars come into their third game of the season still looking for the first victory which is uncharted waters for Cougars fans. The Cougars look to get their offense on track this week after being held to only 25 rushing yards in their last game. QB Arthur King (264 passing yards 1 TD) RB Josh Daniels (85 rushing yards 1 TD), and WR Mike Gilmore (7 catches 115 yards 1 TD) pace the the cougars thus far.
The Angleton Wildcats managed to get in an extra game with Waller last Saturday and came away with the first win of the season. The Wildcats are led by QB Quandre Diggs (300 yards rushing 4 TD, 112 yards passing) and RB Henry Josey (251 yards rushing 5 TD). Keep an eye on Diggs as he is only a Sophomore, but already caught the attention of a lot of recruiting services.

Prediction: Wildcats by 7

Friendswood (1-0) vs Texas City (2-0)

The Friendswood Mustangs come into this big match-up knowing that the winner of this game will have an early leg up in the district race. Pacing the Mustangs offensively is Texas Tech commit Jacob Karam who threw for 397 yards a 4 TD's in their first game. Karam's favorite receivers thus far have been Andre Gautreaux (9 catches 193 yards 2 TD), and Austin Fitzpatrick (6 catches 103 yards 1 TD).
The Texas City Stingarees also come into this week fully aware of the weight of this game. Leading the Stingarees thus far is QB Derrick Bernard (116 yards passing 2 TD, 100 yards rushing), and RB Justin Branch (421 rushing yards 1 TD). The Stingarees opportunistic defense has been a huge contributing factor in both victories. They had an INT return for a TD, an 80 yard fumble recovery for a TD, and a safety all in the fourth quarter against Lamar Consolidated in week 0, and a fumble recovery and an interception in week 1.

Prediction: Mustangs by 7
