Big efforts all over Central Texas in Week 2

From Waco down to South Austin and everywhere in between, Central Texas had some impressive showings from some of the area's top players in Week 2

CENTRAL TEXAS SUPER STUD OF THE WEEK: Drew Coleman, RB, Cedar Park Vista Ridge
Coleman gets the Week 2 nod because of not only his numbers, but also that those numbers were largely the reason why the Rangers were able to win their second game of the season and enter 16-5A play with a winning record. Coleman, a receiver turned running back, rushed for 263 yards and four touchdowns in the Rangers 47-22 win over Pflugerville Connally in his first start at running back.

Jeff's SUPER SEVEN Performances from Week 2

Valentino Bishop, WR, Pflugerville
Not known as a passing team, with was their air attack that allowed the Panthers to claim a road win over Converse Judson. Bishop made the most of his three catches racking up 176 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Bishop also had more than 100 yards on two kickoff returns. Thor Woerner, QB/LB, Marble Falls
Woerner could have easily been the stud of the week with his performance in helping the Mustangs net a win over Burnet. The senior accounted for nearly 300 yards of total offense and accounted for four touchdowns. On defense he recorded three interceptions in the victory.

Aaron Doyle, QB, Evant
Doyle continues to tear up the competition for the Elks. In Week 2 Doyle was 13-of-19 passing for 287 yards and six touchdowns. He also added 81 yards rushing and a touchdowns and scored on three two point conversions – one rushing, one passing, and one receiving.

Mike Hicks, WR/DB/KR, China Spring
The Cougars have shown no signs of slowing down thus far in 2008 and Hicks is a big reason why. Hicks' Week 2 stat line featured a five catch night as he ripped off 166 yards and a touchdown. The speedster also had a 92-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and recorded and interception.

Ross Bishop, RB, Franklin
Known last season more for his defensive efforts, Bishop has been rock solid on offense this season and he had a huge night in Week 2. Bishop rushed for 255 yards and two scores as the Lions trounced Groveton 41-14.

Austin Bowie Running Backs
Week 2 was also a big week for the Bulldogs ground attack as Philander Moore, Breyln Sorrells, and Heath Hohmann all rushed for more than 100 yards in a 56-14 victory over Hays Consolidated. Each player scored a touchdown and even more than impressive than that is that fact that none of the three had more than nine carries in the game.

Caldwell Running Backs
For the second straight week the Hornets had three running backs cross the century mark in a big victory, this time in a 53-12 victory over Waco Connally. Kysan Woolverton led the way with 166 yards on 21 carries and two touchdowns while Randall Lister (9-182) and Nelson Scott (9-181) each scored a pair of touchdowns.

HONORABLE MENTION: The Round Rock High defense, Madisonville RB Chris Whaley, Lake Travis QB Garrett Gilbert, Round Rock Westwood RB Princeton Collins and K Jordan Williamson, Liberty Hill RB Dusty Turner, Bosqueville QB Blaze Blackburn and WR Cameron Hoffmeyer, China Spring QB Brian Bell, Riesel RB Landon Durham, Itasca RB Desmond Guy, Grosebeck WR Darren Ingram, Rockdale LB Nic Hammett, and Evant WR Trey Dobbins.
