Barefield commits to UNLV

TexasPrepInsider not only brings you the best in season High School Football coverage anywhere, we also break recruiting news. North Mesquite HC Mike Robinson called TPI and let WR Mark Barefield break the news.

"Yes sir, I have committed to UNLV," said Mark Barefield this morning as he gave TPI his oral commitment Monday morning.

The 6'2 180 pound WR was getting looks from several other Division 1 programs but according to Barefield UNLV was where he felt most comfortable. "When I visited I really liked the campus and my overall experience there. They've got a diverse group there with guys from all over. I really like the staff there and the school fits my academic needs," replied the North Mesquite senior.

Mark in three games has 7 receptions for 151 yards and a touchdown and he's also returned a kickoff for a touchdown helping North Mesquite to a 3-1 start in Class 5A.

Barefield transferred to North Mesquite this summer after spending three seasons at Class 3A Wills Point where as a freshman and sophomore he was honorable mention all-district before garnering first team all 10-3A honors as a junior.
