District 17-5A: Week 6 Predictions

TexasPrepInsider.com has returned for the 2008 football season and we are bringing back our weekly predictions of you favorite teams. Check out who we feel will come away with a win this week. And best of all, you can enjoy this content for free.

17-5A
Katy vs. Katy Morton Ranch
Easily the game of the week in this district. After a one-win season last year, the Mavericks are undefeated and facing the defending 5A state champions. I'm pretty sure the emotions are high right now for both teams and rightfully so. The Tigers are on a three-game win streak after dropping the first two while the Mavericks are riding high with plenty of momentum.

This game will be huge for both teams. For Morton Ranch, a win over a perennial powerhouse would be huge and for Katy, a district win to set the tone early. It will be a good one, but I think Katy takes it in the end, but not by much.

Katy Cinco Ranch vs. Katy Taylor
These two neighboring schools clash with Cinco Ranch and Taylor. Both are sitting with a 4-1 record as district play begins. This game has been competitive for many years and again it appears that the upper hand is in favor of the Cougars. Defensively, they are sound and on offense the Shane Ros/Adam Hirtz combo has worked out well for them.

Cinco Ranch seems to be on a mission towards a title and this week will be a good start.

Katy Seven Lakes vs. Katy Mayde Creek
This district has seemed to even out this year and with six teams, only two will not make the cut. This match up between Seven Lakes and Mayde Creek could show some indication to which team is in a better position to pick up one of the final two spots. Both teams have a decent passing game, but the Rams are much more balanced.

Look for Mayde Creek to set the tone early on the ground and use the pass if needed. I think that will prove to be the difference.
