Everman Wins 23rd Straight Reg. Season Game

Everman racked up 322 yards as they cruised past Joshua 41-7 in a District 8-4A game at Owl Stadium. Check out the game details!

JOSHUA- The Everman Bulldogs (8-0, 5-0) goal Friday night was to avoid a let down after a big win last week, consider it mission accomplished. The Bulldogs jumped on Joshua (3-5, 1-4) quickly and never let the Owls recover in a 41-7 win. Everman which has already clinched a playoff spot, won their 23rd straight regular season game and took another step towards their third straight district title.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a quick 20-0 lead as Devin Woods wasted little time getting into the act scoring on Everman's third play from scrimmage on a 57 yard run. Woods and Ryan Smith would tack on short touchdown runs and before a full quarter of action was completed EHS led 20-0.

In the second quarter, the Joshua defense which had played well most of the season settled in but they could not hold the Bulldogs out of the end zone. Late in the quarter the Bulldogs extended the lead to 27-0 as Marcus McAdoo hooked up with Demorick Walker for a 25 yard touchdown pass. The first half defensive effort was stunning for Everman, holding Joshua to -7 yards of total offense and just two first downs.

The second half lacked fireworks as Everman played backup QB Richard Allen for the entire second half and he scored on a three yard run on the Bulldog's opening drive to give EHS a 34-0 lead. Joshua midway through the third quarter finally made a little noise as WR Nate Belvin caught a 32 yard touchdown pass from Weston Foster and the Owls cut the lead to 34-7.

Joshua actually had a little momentum after the score, as they forced Everman to punt for the first time on the ensuing drive. The Owls moved inside the Everman ten, but Barry Browning picked off backup QB Jesse Williamson to end the drive. Sophomore RB Cory Franklin rounded out the scoring on the third quarter's final play on a 25 yard run for the final tally of 41-7. Next week Everman looks to wrap up the 8-4A title as the visit Mansfield to take on Mansfield Timberview, while Joshua visits winless Granbury.
