Southlake continues dominance over Heritage

Irving – Heritage couldn't quite get their offense rolling and Carroll took advantage of 2nd half miscues to jump out to a big lead and never looked back. David Piland scored 2 touchdowns in the Dragon's slaying of the Panthers, 31-7.

The game started defensively for both teams today as the lone score came just 5 seconds into the 2nd quarter as Piland walked it in from 1 yard out. Piland totaled 85 yards on the day and 2 touchdowns off of 21 carries. Carroll would score once again as time expired in the half to take a 10-0 halftime lead on the 30 yard field goal by Cade Foster.

Carroll came into the second half as the same way they ended the 1st. Halfway through the 3rd quarter, Nathan ran for another (his first) 1 yard touchdown to give Carroll the 17-0 lead.

Colleyville Heritage answered back as Stephen hill found Jake Skinner in the back of the end zone on the beautifully thrown fade to bring the game back to within reach. With the score at 17-7, Heritage cut it to a 2 possession game just under 18 minutes of play to go.

Carroll would score twice more in the 4th quarter. The first came with 8:25 to go as Bryan Head rushed 39 yards but fumbled as he was hit. Seth Jameson returned the fumble for the touchdown and another 17 point Southlake Carroll lead. The Dragons got their final score with 2:25 to go on another Nathan touchdown run. This one was from 9 yard out to give us the final, SLC 31 – Colleyville Heritage 7.
