Region III Division 2 Area Predictions and Analysis
Elgin (8-3) vs. Dayton (9-1), 7:30 p.m. Friday Bronco Stadium, Dayton
The Elgin Wildcats are coming off a 28-15 win over Montgomery last week. Running back Derrick Falke rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Tyler Swensen had 94 rushing yards with a touchdown and also threw for a score as well. Turnovers were the name of the game for the Wildcats last week. They forced 3 fumbles recovering 2 and had 2 interceptions in the win.
The Dayton Broncos beat Livingston 39-28 last week, and won a coin flip to get the match-up with Elgin at home this week. The regular stand-out for the Broncos were at it again. Cody Green threw for 186 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 102 more and another score. AJ Dugat had 98 receiving yards and rushed for 41 more, but his big play came on a big Interception in the endzone and returned 70 yards to help stave off a Livingston comeback.
To be honest I think Elgin is a very good team, but I am not sure to many teams in the area can match Dayton's firepower right now. Add that to the expirience of a late playoff run last year, and I think this one is going to be an easy pick

Houston Sharpstown (6-4) vs. Rosenberg Terry (5-4), 7 p.m. Saturday Abshire Stadium, Deer Park
The Houston Sharpstpwn Apollos come off a 51-33 shootout over Furr last week. Junior quarterback Sam Carter went off last week to the tune of 406 total yards. He threw touchdown passes of of 34, 15, 21, 26, and 48. Carter also had 97 yards rushing in the win. Wide receivers William Peck and Joseph Davis each had 2 touchdow receptions.
The Rosenberg Terry Rangers are coming off a 13-0 shutout of Texas City. The Rangers defense was definitely impressive as they held Texas City to 123 total yards and only 8 first downs. Rangers running back Demarcus Bufford rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown. The Ranger defense had 3 interceptions in the win.
This game will all come down to line play. If Sharpstown can give Carter some protection and time to make his reads, he will pick apart Terry. A little bit of pressure though, and Terry comes away with the W.

He passed for 168 yards and 4 touchdowns and rushed for 113 yards as well. Chance Casey caught 3 touchdown passes out of the backfield in the win.
This game has all the makings of another shootout. Both theams won last week, but game up points in the process. I would look for a high scoring game with lots of excitement.

The Houston Yates Lions kept their magical season alive another week by beating Jones last week 27-6. Lions quarterback Tevor Robbins threw for 118 yards and a touchdown while running back Reginald Perry had 86 rushing yards and 2 scores. Skow scored on a 4 yard dive as well as a 34 yard fumble recovery all in the fourth quarter to seal the win for El Campo.
Both of these defenses know how to cause turnovers and the offenses can capitalize when given the short field. Look for this to come down to who causes the most turnovers.
