Carrier shut down process, makes the call

It has not been long since Pearland running back Kasey Carrier got his first offers. Now, he has made the choice on where he wants to be. Carrier called TexasPrepInsider from the airport to give us the scoop…

Recently, TexasPrepInsider brought you the news that Pearland running back Kasey Carrier had received his first offers. Now, Carrier has decided to end the process and give his verbal commitment.

"I just committed to New Mexico today," Carrier told TPI from the airport. "I was down here for and official visit and I told coach Mike Locksley that I was going to be a Lobo."

The 5-8, 185-pound Carrier had 2,117 yards and scored 35 touchdowns and was really looking for a good feel from several college campuses. He got an offer from the Lobos around the same time with Wyoming.

He had other offers from smaller Division I schools like Sam Houston State and Texas Southern and was getting interest from Kansas State, Utah, Air Force, Southern Miss, and Navy.

But in the end, New Mexico landed one of Texas' leading running backs.

"Really I was happy to find a coaching staff that wanted me first," Carrier said. "I was second and third on many boards, but here I was first. I like the environment down here and the coaches are great."
