The 2010 LB class in the state of Texas is already being discussed as one of the best in recent memory and Cedar Hill's Aaron Benson might just highlight that group. At 6'1 207 pounds and with 4.5 speed in the forty Benson is a tackling machine. A three year starter for the Longhorns, Benson was a major contributor in the Longhorns 12-2 2008 season. Not only was he the unquestioned leader of a stout CHHS defense but Benson's play spoke for itself notching 132 tackles, 8 sacks, 3 INT's, fumble return for a score and a blocked field goal. Those eye popping numbers earned Aaron first team all district honors.

"My biggest strength is my ability to do a lot of things on defense, I'm equally good at stopping the run, rushing the passer and play in coverage," said Benson. Aaron currently holds offers from LSU, Texas A&M, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma, TCU and SMU along with serious interest from Wisconsin, Miami and Florida. There is one school that stands out above the rest and that's his high school's namesake the Texas Longhorns. "I've been a fan of Texas since I was a kid, I'm going to attend their Junior Day this weekend," said Benson who is rumored to possibly commit this weekend to the Longhorns. Aaron also has plans to attend Junior Days at Baylor and TCU.

The future Business major says potential playing time and academics will be a couple of things he'll look at when making the final decision on a college. As for this summer Aaron's probably not going to make the camp circuit but he'll spend some time with his teammates playing seven on seven.

With CHHS just a few years removed from a State Championship, Benson knows the 2009 edition could be much like the group that took home the title in 2005. "I think we can win it all, the loss in the fourth round to Wylie hurt but we want it to be motivation to take it all the way in 2009."
