Aaron who sports some rather impressive numbers in the weightroom (275 pound bench press and 405 pound squat) is a demon on the track as last spring he was a regional qualifier in three events in track (200, 4x100 relay and 4x200 relay).
"My speed is my biggest strength but I'm also a sure tackler in the open field and I can get off my blocks well," said Franklin who this off-season wants to work on reading his keys better and shaking off the rust during spring football after missing an entire season.
Franklin currently holds two offers from Texas A&M and TCU and he's getting major interest from Oklahoma, Texas Tech, LSU, Alabama and Houston. Rumored to be a Texas A&M lean Franklin quickly dismissed the notion. "I don't have a favorite right now, A&M was great to visit but I don't have anything to compare them to. I'm visiting TCU in a couple of weeks for their Junior Day and I'd like to make it to LSU and Oklahoma," replied the Marshall OLB.
This summer Aaron plans on keeping busy attending at least two camps and he'll play some seven on seven for the Mavericks. The future Marketing major says academics, campus location and a chance for early playing time will play roles in where he lands for the next four years.
The decision timeline is still up in the air, "I really don't want to rush and make a decision, I want to make sure I commit when I know the time is right," said Franklin. Missing all of 2008 has Aaron rearing to go however and despite sharing a district with 4A Division II State Champion Sulphur Springs and Division I runner up Longview Franklin's got high hopes, "I'm ready to put the pads on and hit someone, its been too long. I think if we live up to our potential we can make a run in 2009."
