Another of the Mansfield defensive line prospects is Peter Okonofua who alongside Femi Awe gives the Tigers a strong pair of defensive ends. Okonofua the 6'3 235 pound end with 4.7 speed was named honorable mention all-district 4-5A as he posted 11 sacks and led the Tigers to their best season in school history as MHS advanced to the Class 5A Division II Regional Semi-Finals.

"I think my biggest strength is my ability to rush the passer, I shed blocks well and can make plays," said Okonofua who wants to work on getting better with his hands this offseason.

Peter lists Texas as his favorite school but it's unclear if the Longhorns will seriously recruit Okonofua due to their limited number of scholarships left in this class. Besides attending Junior Day at Texas, Peter has attended a Junior Day at Baylor. Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas, Kansas State, TCU and SMU are also strongly recruiting the Mansfield DE.

This summer Peter plans on camping at Texas, TCU and Baylor in addition to participating in the Tigers off-season program. The future business major says graduation rate, campus location and a chance at early playing time will be key in his decision process.

After the big 2009 Okonofua and his Mansfield teammates will have to now deal with higher expectations after the long playoff run. "We lost Stepfan (Taylor) but we've got enough young guys who saw some playing time that I think we'll be more than capable to make a run."
