Make no mistake, teams that go into off-season with postseason on their minds. But for coach Mark Byrd and the Houston Westside football team, just getting is something that is likely expected. Meaning, they are ready to get in and dance a little.

And with the crew returning, that should be an attainable goal. Last season Westside finished with a 5-4 record and 11 (6 OFF, 5 DEF) starters return for 2009.

Offensively, the Wolves should be in a good position, especially with running back Frank Williams (5-8, 180) returning. Williams, who will be a three-year starter, ran for 2,00 yards last season. Also, in the backfield will be quarterback Otis Seals who exploded on the scene last year with 22 total touchdowns.

There will be a few new faces coming on this year with newcomer athletes Deante' Grey (5-8, 165) and Xavier Moss (6-1, 170) at the wide out positions.

Up front the Wolves should be secure with all-district linemen Stephen Hammerle (6-0, 240) and Chris Herbert (6-1, 270). Other returnees include Shanin Hadi (6-2, 220) and Stephen Schneider (5-10, 210).

Defensively, linebacker Chad Thompson (6-0, 180) leads the charge and was the Wolves leading tackler with 88 stops and five sacks. Also, linebackers Stephen Thompson (6-0, 220; 65 tackles), Mike Airwado (5-8, 180; 40 tackles), and Kevin Rodriguez (6-0, 185) will be in the starting rotation as well. Nose tackle Jeorge Munoz is the lone returning lineman.
