On offense the Tigers have plenty of firepower back in the fold and it starts with QB Trent Jurica who as a sophomore threw for over 1900 yards and eight touchdowns earning first team all 14-3A honors. Jurica has good size and a good arm and just needs a bit more seasoning and he has the tools to develop into a big time prospect. After starring on the JV as a sophomore speedy Brandon Morris will take over as the number one ball carrier. Keep an eye in Steven Cunigan at WR he's got great size and speed and with his 48 receptions he's the leading returning offensive weapon. Marquis Batch and Brett Bradshaw are both solid complimentary threats also. The offensive line lacks size and with just two starters back they will be the main area of concern for Coach Garvin.
On defense in 2008 Wills Point struggled and with the eight starters back the Tigers should be much improved. The top player is LB Alex Anderson who is the top returning tackler with 61 stops. Another player to keep an eye on is DE DeMarcus Bowman who could blossom into a major contributor. The secondary will be the strongest area on the defensive side as sophomore Clay Deen who saw a ton of time as a freshman joins three senior starters.
District 14-A is by no means a powerhouse district although Van and Canton are solid teams. With some luck and progression expect Wills Point to be right in the thick of the playoff chase.
