Seems as though the record books get continually updated when it involves the North Shore football team. In 2008, the Mustangs extended their regular season win streak to 78 making them the first team in history to amass that many consecutive wins.

For 2009, North Shore welcomes back eight (4 OFF, 4 DEF) starters from a team that went 9-1, and were area finalists.

On the offensive side of the ball, where the game is won or lost, it is the offensive line that has two solid returners in Trey Hopkins (6-3, 270) and Sedrick Flowers (6-2, 280). These two guys will lead the way and clear the way for running back Tracy Woods (5-11, 215) to move the chains.

Woods, who has a punishing style of running, had 885 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior. When the Mustangs want to air it out, there is a good chance that DeAndrew White (6-0, 180) will be on the other end.

In 10 games, White caught 37 passes for 846 yards and 10 touchdowns. White known for his breakaway speed and recently won the state 5A meet in the 200-meters (21.18).

Defensively, the Mustangs have linebacker and team-leading tackler in Derrick Mathews (6-0, 180), who ended up with 74 total tackles. Tackle Jarrod Foster is (6-1, 230) returning up front.

The secondary has a couple of proven guy in Larry Stephens and Alton Demby. Stephens, who was all state as a junior, had 47 tackles and five interceptions (one for TD) while Demby had 70 stops and two interceptions.

Ricardo Perez will handle the kicking duties after being 11 of 13 for field goals and perfect from PAT (47/47).
