Cayuga's Shead Second All-Time in Texas

TPI is keeping an eye on Class A's Traylor Shead as he moves toward the nation's all-time, high school rushing record held by Kenneth Hall of Sugar Land. He's on our schedule later this season although he's wasted no time in moving from No. 6 to No. 2 among Texas all-time rushers.

Class A Cayuga's standout RB Traylon Shead now trails only Texas and national all-time rushing leader Kenneth Hall of Sugar Land as the greatest rushing legend in Texas football history.

Shead, a 215-pound Texas commit, rushed for 269 yards as Cayuga dominated Cushing 66-0 on Friday night. He passed Wes Danaher of C.C. Calallen (8,855 yards) with 8,885 yards, second only to Hall in Texas football all-time.

After two early sub-100-yard rushing games by Shead, the Wildcats (6-1) have posted 185 points in their last three games, and Shead has led the way. Two weeks ago, Shead moved from sixth place on the career rushing list to third as he gained 240 yards on just eight carries averaging 30 yards per tote against Cross Roads. He passed Cuero's Robert Strait, Midland Lee's Cedric Benson and Groveton's Rodney Thomas with the effort.

Hall's national record of 11,232 career rushing yards leaves Cayuga's top producer 2,347 yards short of Hall's mark. Currently Shead, who runs a 4.5 40-yard dash and benches 400 pounds, ranks 10th all-time nationally in rushing.
