Mercer Island boasts one of the top recruits in next year's class, quarterback Jeff Lindquist. Juanita looks very strong in year three of coach Tarantola's rebuilding project. Transfer players Jarett Finau, Siti Tamaivena and Suli Tamaivena have the Rebel defense looking stout. I think that Juanita takes this one.
This is the in state game of the week. Lakes has been untouchable during the season for a few years now. Capital will need to find a way to corral quarterback Cedric Dozier. The Lancers become extremely dangerous when he takes off from the pocket on runs or creates more time to throw with his legs. I think Capital will find a way to slow him down and pull out a narrow win.
Puyallup vs. #7 Graham-Kapowsin , 7pm, Graham-Kapowsin
Puyallup has shocked SPSL South fans so far this year by lighting up the scoreboard in their first two games. Some say the Vikings are for real, while doubters point to their weak first two opponents. A win over a talented Graham-Kapowsin team should silence any critics.
Lindbergh v. Renton , 7pm, Renton Memorial
This game doesn't have the allure that it may have had the last couple of years, with both teams losing talent from last year to graduation. However, this is a rivalry game and Renton Memorial Stadium should be rocking.
Lake Oswego (Ore.) vs. #4 Skyline, 7pm, Skyline
Skyline takes on another talented opponent, this time from outside the state of Washington. Lake Oswego is highly ranked in Oregon and a win would be very impressive for a Skyline program that has started the year with as tough a schedule as anyone in the state. Sophomore Max Browne will need to be on his game as the Spartans could have trouble stopping Lake Oswego's offense.
