Friday Night Spotlight

ESP puts together a list of the top games in the State of Washington this weekend. There should be a game in almost every area of the state…

It is the final week of the regular season. Teams from all over the state are playing for playoff spots, here are some of the top games…

Thursday Night
Kentridge vs. #5 Kentwood, 7:00pm, French Field
Kentridge is in the playoffs regardless, but could really use a win to bolster their seed to districts. Kentwood has already secured the SPSL North title. But don't look for them to take it easy on the rival Chargers.

Foster vs. Lindbergh, 7pm, Renton Memorial
This game is meaningless for playoff seeding, but has everything to do with pride. Because of the playoff point system, Lindbergh will get the 2A #1 seed and Foster will get the #2. But, the winner of this game will actually have the better record and have won the head to head.

Friday Night
#2 Skyline vs. #8 Bothell, 7pm, Skyline
KingCo championship is on the line. These teams have met three straight years in this crossover championship. I think more leagues need to adopt this open ending scheduling concept, too many seeds get decided in ways that make no sense. My money is on Skyline this year.

#4 Ferris vs. Gonzaga Prep, 8pm, Albi
Ferris can win the GSL outright with a win over the Bullpups. If Gonzaga Prep wins, the two teams will be tied with Mt. Spokane at the top. Either way, these teams have locked up the GSL 4A playoff spots.

#3 Bellevue vs. Liberty, 7pm, Liberty
Liberty is trying to make the playoffs all about a coin flip. If the Patriots can knock off Bellevue, the leagues 1-3 seeds will be determined by a coin flip. If Bellevue wins, they secure the league title.

Lakes vs. Bonney Lake , 7pm, Bonney Lake
The SPSL 3A will be decided in Bonney Lake on Friday night. Even though they are still in the hunt for first place, this is a rebuilding year for Lakes. This is as good of a chance as anyone has had recently to knock them out of the top seed.

Feel free to let me know how the games you attend go on our message boards. Have a great weekend of football…
