3A Quarterfinal Breakdowns

ESP lays out the match ups for the state playoffs and predicts which teams will move on to the semifinals…

Top Half of the Bracket
Lakes vs. Camas
Lakes always seems to make it this far in the state tournament, this issue is can they make it all the way. This year's team doesn't have the name recognition that last year's team did, but I think they play a more solid brand of football. I think that Lakes heads to the state semis for the second straight year.

Liberty vs. Bellevue
Like the Skyline/Issaquah match up in 4A, this is a game that seems to be played twice a year. The games seem to happen in the regular season league play, then a second time in the playoffs. Liberty has made a habit of coming up just short against Bellevue. A miracle run of comeback victories led them to the title game last season where they came up short to the Wolverines once again. I have made it a rule to not pick against Coach Goncharoff in the playoffs and I will stick with that. But, Bellevue is as vulnerable as they have been in years and Liberty might just knock them out this time.

Bottom Half of the Bracket
O'Dea vs. Capital
Capital has been the most consistently dominant team in 3A this entire season. Since Narrow wins against Lakes and Enumclaw early in the season, no team has come within 31 points of Capital. I think that they win this game by a wide margin.

Kamiakin vs. Mt. Spokane
Mt. Spokane spent the regular season training against 4A teams like GPrep and Ferris. I think it has them prepared for the fight that this game will be. I see the Wildcats getting the victory and the semifinal berth that narrowly eluded them last season.
