Southern Miss Recuiting Wish List

Recruiting for the class of 2013 is really about to heat up. Here are 10 players the Eagles hope to land when signing day rolls around in February.

Christmas is over, but the Eagles still have a wish list. Here are 10 players Southern Miss hopes it can land by signing day on February 6th.

-Tere Calloway, ath, Seattle Prep: Calloway had a great visit to Southern Miss a few weeks ago, and said his official list is now complete. He's down to three schools, SMU, Southern Miss, and Nevada. He had a great visit with Coach Monken and hopefully that can put the Eagles in with the talented athlete. He is set to announce the second week of January.

-Arie Anderson, DT, Stanhope Elmore: Anderson is a very talented lineman on an average team, so he didn't get the hype of others. He's a dominant big man in the middle, and can take over a game. The Eagles are going to have to battle it out though with UAB, Troy, and now Auburn is getting into the mix for him.

-Jarrion Johnson, WR, Jackson (AL): Johnson received an offer from the new staff during the MS/ AL all-star week. He'd be a nice get for the Eagles who are looking for playmakers at wide receiver. He's currently not named a favorite as of yet.

-Donald Gage, WR, Zachary (LA): Gage is a guy who has been committed to Houston, but has been offered by the new staff. He said Southern Miss is not out of the question for him, and he's hoping to take a visit in January. Get a player like him on campus, and anything is possible.

-Nelson Easterling, LB, Faith Academy (AL): One of the first offers from Dave Duggan now back with the Eagles, Easterling is a very talented LB who really likes the Eagles. Southern Miss will be visiting him early in January, look for a commitment to follow.

-Nicholas Haynes, TE, Niceville (FL): Haynes has had an on again, off again relationship with the Eagles. He's been offered early, then said he had no interest, and now he's back very much in the mix. He's a talented blocking TE who could fit in nicely to the Monken offense.

-Stacey Garner, DE/LB, FCAHS: Garner is still hoping for a offer from the Eagles. He's been on the radar for a long time, but they have yet to pull the trigger with him. Garner seemingly would fit in well with the Duggan scheme.

-Cethan Carter, TE, Rummel (LA)- Carter had the Eagles in his top 3 a few months ago. LSU came calling but can only offer him a grayshirt. This could put Southern Miss and the high powered offensive scheme right back in the mix for the big talented TE/FB.

-Xavier Woods, DB, West Monroe (LA)- Woods has been on the radar for a while also with Southern Miss. He held an offer with the previous staff, but will it hold under Monken? He's one of the better cover corners in Louisiana who people haven't heard a lot about.

-Cameron Tom, OL, Catholic- Baton Rouge (LA): Southern Miss has been pushing the big man hard for a commitment. He's down to Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech, but one advantage is the Coach recruiting him at Tech is now at Southern Miss, Petey Perot.
