Rodney Stuckey comes out smokin' in Conqs win

Rodney Stuckey can score with the basketball. Tuesday night he did just that in the Kentwood Conqueror's season opener against SPSL North rival Kent-Meridian. Rodney scored a bunch.

The 6-5 future Eastern Washington University Eagle lit up the Royals at their own house for 35 points as the Conqs got the "W" 69-45.

For his effort Rodney is our "Stud-of-the-Day for Tuesday.

Other top performances Tuesday night included:

Senior guard Chris Faidley hit 7 treys as part of his 31-point outburst as 2-0 King's knocked off Liberty 58-47. Faidley, the 2002 1A state tournament MVP, had 15 in the first quarter.

The big three, seniors Justin Reed, David Brittinen and Jeff Wayman, combined for 56 points as 2A top-ranked Hoquiam beat Bellevue 62-43.

Dan Stafford got 22 to help keep Auburn unbeaten at 3-0 with a 75-35 mauling of Sumner.

6-11 Rainier Beach center C. J. Giles scored 26 as Rainier Beach stayed perfect with a 73-26 rout of Eastside Catholic.

Brandon Johnson, the 6'8" post from Mountain View, had 28 points with 12 boards in a 64-53 win over RA Long.

Seattle Prep (4-0) also remained unbeaten with a 66-49 win over West Seattle. Michael Knight and Chad Troyer combined for 32 points.

Olympia moved to 3-0 as Jason Briggs had another strong outing, scoring 18 for the Bears in their 54-47 win over Central Kitsap.

And Coach Rick Comer's Renton Indians stayed undefeated at 4-0, handling Clover Park 80-61. Seniors Steffond Brown and Lael Johnson combined for 43 points.
