Burleson's 27 keeps Franklin unbeaten

When you have a young team like Franklin Coach Jason Kerr has, you need a senior leader. Kerr has exactly that in 6-3 guard Lyndale Burleson and the Quakers are perfect through four games, winning on the road Friday night in Santa Maria, California.

Burleson scored 27 in the Quakers 72-51 win over St. Joseph (Santa Maria). He is averaging 22.5ppg through four games. For his efforts Lyndale is our "Stud-of-the-Day" for Friday.

6-11 senior C.J. Giles got a super-sized double-double as 6-0 Rainier Beach remained unbeaten with an 87-39 whipping of West Seattle. Giles scored 21 points and hauled down 23 rebounds. 6-6 junior guard Terrance Williams added another triple-double with 14 points, 12 dimes and 11 boards.

Also in the Metro League Blanchet (5-1) knocked Seattle Prep (6-1) from the unbeaten ranks as 5-8 sophomore guard Taylor Olson scored 19.

6-1 junior guard Jake Linton scored 21 with six treys as Meadowdale moved to 6-1 with the 44-43 edging of WesCo South rival Shorewood.

In a battle of two teams who have been fighting it out atop the WesCo North over the last few years, once again it came down to the final minute. 5-11 junior guard Daes Kaufman popped in 30 big points and the youthful Stanwood Spartans held off Snohomish 59-55. Good job to my KRKO bubbas, enjoyed the listen while watching another game up the road.

6-2 senior Matt Stevens kept Lake Stevens perfect at 5-0, scoring 15 of his 20 after the break in the Viking's 50-49 WesCo North win at Mount Vernon's Dog House. This one had a very slow first half with the defenses holding the edge. Lake Stevens leading scorer Tyler Long spent much of the night in foul troble and had to sit down midway through the fourth quarter for good. Mount Vernon had a shot to take the lead late but came up empty.

Tim Gunderson scored 36 and Garth Brandal 29 as Shoreline Christian beat Neah Bay 73-65.
