11 treys, 47 points for Squalicum's Dustin Jones

As the regular season winds down, and in some cases is over, it's time to step it up a notch and get into playoff form. Squalicum's Dustin Jones is doing that. And down in the Metro and KingCo 3A they sent some teams packing while in Yakima, Davis and Ike had one for the ages. And Kennedy… Four ejections, oh my.

Jones, a 6-2 junior guard, went off again Tuesday night, scoring 47 as the Storm topped Anacortes 89-78. He was on fire from outside, hitting 11 times from beyond the arc. Squalicum is 17-2/12-1 and tied with Bellingham for the top seed in the Northwest League.

Bellingham beat Sedro-Woolley 50-43. Josh Fish scored 16. The Raiders are 18-2/12-1.

Redmond (15-3/11-2) came from 13 down and stunned Franklin (15-3/10-2) 67-61 in a battle of KingCo 4A division leaders. 6-2 senior guard Cameron Moffatt scored 26 while 6-8 senior Stephen Ishmael added 16.

Eastlake rocked Lake Washington 57-41 as Scott McDaniels scored 21 and Nick Livi (Eastern Washington) added 20. Ryan Staudacher had 15 in the loss.

Inglemoor (15-3/10-3) edged Juanita 46-40. Senior guard Ken Nwaelele scored 16 and Jordan White-Frisbee added 11. Bryan Walters scored 15 in the loss.

Bothell (14-5/8-5) whipped Woodinville 73-55. 6-7 senior wing Dan Blanchard (Central Washington) scored 19, 6-8 junior Micah Downs had a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds and 5-9 senior guard Stefan Clark got his own d-d with 10 points and 11 dimes.

Lakeside stayed alive in the Metro playoffs, dropping Chief Sealth 58-55. Senior wing Nick Scott scored 19. The Lions move on to another loser-out game Wednesday at West Seattle.

Nathan Hale eliminated Bainbridge 45-34 behind 16 points from Michael Woolley. The Raiders get Blanchet in another loser-out game Wednesday night.

Issaquah dropped Bellevue 63-58 to stay alive in the KingCo 3A playoffs. Garrison Carr scored 28. 6-6 senior Robbie Cooch had 18 in the loss.

Skyline eliminated Liberty 39-37. 6-10 sophomore Nick Jones scored 12 while 6-0 senior guard Jayce Gutzler added 10. 6-0 junior guard Shaun McKinley won it with a pair from the line in the final 10 seconds.

18-2/12-0 White River had no trouble with Fife, handling the Trojans 59-38. Junior guard Tyler Nixon scored 19. The Hornets are the Pierce Division's top seed to the Seamount playoffs.

18-2/14-0 Renton goes as the King Division's top seed. The Indians hammered Highline 94-54. Senior guard Steffond Brown scored 23 while fellow senior guard Jeff Burns added 22. 6-5 senior Lael Johnson got another d-d with 13 and 13, boards and points.

Mount Rainier (17-3/12-2) dumped Kennedy 80-65. Brain Manaway scored 29. Kennedy lost three players and their coach to ejection in the final minute and could be without all four in their Seamount League playoff opener under WIAA rules mandating a one-game suspension for an ejection. Film at 11:00…

And then there was a game that was simply, WOW! Ike led unbeaten Davis by 8 with just over a minute a half to go. Davis comes back and is up by 3 as the Cadets get off a buzzer beater to tie. The shot's no good but there's a foul. Nate Gipson calmly sinks all three freebies and it's OT. Davis gets the "W" 70-61 and clinched at least a tie for the Big Nine regular season title.

Humberto Perez scored 22, hitting five treys, while Jeremy Mangum added 18. Brett Gordon knocked down 23 and got the d-d with 17 boards in the loss.
