Friday playoff highlights

The first four teams to qualify for the Class 4A State Tournament were penciled in Friday night in the West Central District as Mount Tahoma, South Kitsap, Auburn and Puyallup all picked up berths. In 3A Clarkston and West Valley (Yakima) also gained berths. And there is no longer an undefeated team in Class 4A.

South Kitsap knocked off previously unbeaten and top-ranked Bethel 51-43. Junior guard Derrick Webb scored 15, Jake Beitinger 12 and Adam Bennett 11. Beitinger and Bennet both had double-doubles with Beitinger grabbing 16 rebounds and Bennett snagging 11 boards. 6-8 junior Brandon Moore had 14 in the loss. The Wolves finished strong with a 21-12 fourth quarter.

Puyallup beat Central Kitsap 52-39. The Vikings broke open a close game with a 22-01 fourth quarter run. 6-4 senior forward Jacob McKinney scored 18. Senior forward Brice Brooks had 16 in the loss.

Auburn edged Bellarmine Prep 54-52 to advance. 6-4 senior wing Dan Stafford (pictured) had 24 points and hit the game winner in the final seconds. Senior guard Ben Hannula had 15 in the loss.

Mount Tahoma topped Kentwood 51-44 ending the Conqs 15 game winning streak and handing KW just their second loss of the season. Julio Felicano scored 17 and Gary Ward added 14. Rodney Stuckey was held to 15 points in the loss.

Rogers eliminated Mountain View 55-49. Senior wing Chase VanCleave scored 20 and D.J. Heltsley added 13. Nik Raivio scored 24 in the loss.

Prairie knocked out Bremerton 71-40. 6-6 senior forward Devon Uskoski (pictured) scored 32. Marvin Williams had 24 in the final game of his high school career.

Federal Way knocked out Foss 81-61. Junior guard Morris Anderson had 16 and Darius Alo 15. Junior wing Desmond Martin and sophomore forward Ernest Williams scored 13 each in the loss.

Skyview eliminated Kent-Meridian 69-60 Senior forward Jon Bond (pictured courtesy of Mick White) scored 32. Junior guard Steffan Johnson had 21 in the loss.

If Bethel and Kentwood win next Tuesday they will go to state as the two lowest seeds in Class 4A. The draw should be very interesting if that's the case.

In the KingCo 4A District Redmond beat Garfield 64-59 to head to the title game. 6-8 senior Stephen Ishmael scored 31 points and got a d-d with 11 boards. Omar Thompson had 25 in the loss.

Franklin advanced to the KingCo District championship game, beating Inglemoor 68-63. Senior guard Lyndale Burleson scored 20 to go with 7 dimes and 6-7 junior Richie Phillips (pictured)added a d-d with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Ken Nwaelele scored 17 in the loss.

Woodinville eliminated Roosevelt 48-46. Greg Haslam had 14. Marcus Williams scored 24 and got a double-double with 12 boards. Marcus also rejected 5 shots in the loss.

Bothell eliminated Lake Washington 62-53. 6-7 junior Micah Downs (pictured at right) scored 20, gabbed 10 boards and dished 8 dimes. Stefan Clark added 17 points and Travis McKee chipped in with 15. Steve Wiseley scored 26 in the loss.

Over in the Big Nine District tourney semifinals Walla Walla slowed down Davis 53-47. Senior guard Bryce Pendleton (pictured) scored 15, including a trio of treys, and senior forward Craig Mettler added 11 points to go with 9 boards. Big Nine MVP senior guard Jeremy Mangum had 14 in the loss.

The Blue Devils will meet Richland, a 48-46 winner over Pasco, for the district's top seed to regionals. Pasco and Davis will go at it for the third and fourth seeds.

In the Greater Spokane District Ferris got the top seed to regionals with a 54-53 overtime win over North Central. 5-10 senior guard Jeremy Templeton (pictured) and 6-3 sophomore Brian Hallett scored 20 each. Antwan Conway had 28 in the loss.

Central Valley beat Gonzaga Prep 51-39 for third place to regionals. 6-0 junior guard Kris Henderson scored 24. The Bears are the GSL's third seed to the regional tourney.

In the 3A Eastern Regional tournament Clarkston beat Selah 54-38 as Josh Heytvelt had another d-d, scoring 20 and grabbing 10 boards. The Bantams are headed to state. West Valley (Yakima) topped Hanford 56-43 to gain a state berth. Corey Wehr and E.J. Schoen scored 18 points each. Nick Martin scored 14 for the Falcons. The Rams and Clarkston meet for the regional title Saturday.

Selah and Hanford play Saturday for the final state berth from the Eastern Regional.
