True Player's Big Time run ends

The final team alive at the Reebok Big Time tournament in Las Vegas ended the state's run Monday. Cuttino Mobley (PA) beat True Players Elite 78-66 in the semifinals of the "B" Division to bring four days of hoops in the heat to an end for Washington teams.

True Players Elite consists of Viet Dang (Interlake), Chucky Simmons (Renton), Brandon Smith (Auburn Riverside), Keenan Hart (Cleveland), Justin Cook (Renton), Marcel Pellum (Cleveland), Desmond Martin (Foss), Jason Foster (Foss), Cedric Collins (Jackson) and Melvin Samuel (Renton). They are coached by Ed Haskins, Jeff Staton and Rob Potashnick.

The state's leading scorer at the Big Time was Josh Wilson playing with Emerald City Chaffey. Wilson, playing in 6 games during the event, averaged 21.5ppg. Only 10 players in the 300-team field scored more than Wilson's 129 points during the event.

When Eastern Washington Elite Red hit 23 three-pointers in a single game at the Big Time, they went into the record book. No team in the history of the event has burned the nets more from outside the arc. In that game Scott Stockwell (Post Falls, ID.) hit 9 times from beyond the line.
