Jacob Manning to Sun Belt

Former Bellarmine Prep star Jacob Manning has found his way to the ranks of Division-1 basketball after a year playing for Coach Che Dawson at Highline Community College. The 6-7 forward will be playing his next three seasons in the Sun Belt Conference.

Manning signed and has enrolled at the University of New Orleans where he will become immediately eligible as a sophomore for Coach Monte Towe's Privateers. Manning was an academic qualifier out of high school so he did not have to remain at a CC for two years and obtain his Associates Degree before being able to move on to a D-1 program. New Orleans seemed like a good fit as he was born in neighboring Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

As a freshman at Highline in the 2003-2004 season he averaged 7.7 points with 4.6 boards while swatting a team-high 25 blocked shots. He hit 44.8% from the floor and 75% from the stripe. Coach Dawson said of Manning early in the season "Jacob is starting to demonstrate the impact player he can become as he more consistently displays his aggressiveness."

Manning describes his game as an inside/outside threat. Under Coach Bernie Salazar Manning was an All-Narrows League second team pick as a senior at Bellarmine. He played his summer basketball with Rotary Select.
