With his team stuck in a physical match-up with Auburn at Memorial Stadium last night, Johri Fogerson knew he needed to find a lane and hit paydirt for the Irish.
As time ran out on the first quarter of play, Fogerson was able to do just that. Fogerson took a hand off up the middle, made a few would-be Trojan tacklers miss, and sped into the endzone to give his team a 7-0 lead.
From that point on, it was the Fogerson Brothers show for the Irish, as time and time again the O'Dea offensive line would open holes, younger brother Zach Fogerson would make a key block, and older brother Johri Fogerson would gash the Trojan defense for huge chunks of yards. Johri Fogerson would add two more touchdowns from 10 yards and 17 yards out, and the Irish would dominate the final three quarters of the play to beat Auburn 35-3.
For the night, Johri Fogerson ran for 212 yards on 18 carries and scored three touchdowns, bringing his season totals to 1955 yards rushing and 28 total touchdowns.
After a long run on the first play of scrimmage for Auburn, it looked like it would be a long night for the Irish defense, but they tightened up for the rest of the game, only allowing a 31 yard field goal in the second quarter. The Irish made two huge stops on fourth down to give the ball back to their offense.
Overall, it was an impressive performance by the entire O'Dea team, as they dominated a talented Auburn team, who finished a solid season at 8-3.
O'Dea (11-0) moves on to play Meadowdale, who beat state ranked Evergreen 20-19.
