Federal Way vs. Kentridge

I went down to Auburn High on Wednesday night to catch a summer league game between Kentridge and Federal Way. Left the game feeling like I had seen at least one team that figures to make an impact in the state tournament…

Federal Way walked away with an easy 54-37 victory over Kentridge. The game was pretty competitive throughout the first half and into the second. Kentridge trailed by just four points early in the second half and had the ball.

After a turnover and what seemed like a five minute scoreless streak Kentridge found themselves down fourteen. Federal Way was lethal from three point range. I don't have stats on the game but I would say they shot about 60% from beyond the arc.

There were a few of the league's best players out on the floor. Gary Bell for Kentridge is a sophomore point guard that started as a freshman. He was held in check pretty well by Federal Way but I see him scoring his fare share of points when basketball season comes around.

Federal Way was possibly most impressive in the fact that their team is so balanced. They scored from all over the floor. It was interesting to see Decatur transfer Michael Hale out on the floor for Federal Way. He should add more talent to an already talented squad. Cole Dickerson also figures to be the second best big man in the league this year behind Josh Smith. He showed good post moves once he was able to establish position.

The SPSL should be a fun league to watch this year and as of now I see Federal Way entering the season as my favorite.
