Friday Night Spotlight

Here is a list of the top games in the state of Washington this weekend. Should be a game in you area for almost anyone in the state…

Friday Night
Skyline vs. Eastlake, 7pm, Skyline
To be honest, Eastlake has dissapointed this season. Many people, including myself, thought they would have fared better this year. That being said they are a team that has the talent to give Skyline a tough game if they can put a solid performance together. Should be a good game, personally I have my fingers crossed that Skyline and Issaquah make it to an undefeated showdown next week.

Bothell vs. Woodinville, 7pm, Pop Keeney
This is the game of the week and no other game is close. This is a rivalry and both teams are very talented. I spoke with players from both teams at a press conference this summer. Both sides pointed to this game as the most important on the schedule, they were right. The winner will find themselves alone at the top of the standings. Woodinville is undefeated on the year, but Bothell has been building momentum game by game since their early losses. In a rare Friday Night Spotlight prediction I see Bothell pulling off an upset in this one.

Everett vs. Ferndale, 7pm, Everett
Having spents four years in Bellingham I am familiar with the teams that Ferndale sees on a weekly basis, they are rarely challenged. Everett is a team that does provide a challenge and something for Ferndale to get excited about. This game is an opportunity to Everett to make a name for themselves and for Ferndale it could be the last speedbump on the way to an undefeated season.

Lake Stevens vs. Marysville-Pilchuck, 7pm, Lake Stevens
Based off time restraints, I am glad I won't be at this game; it could be a four hour affair. Both teams love to score; unfortunately they both also love to give up points. This could be reminiscent of the Jackson/Lake Stevens game last week. Last team with the ball wins. Should be a fun game and decisive when it comes to the standings in the Wesco North.

Saturday Night
Capital vs. North Kitsap, 7pm, North Kitsap
This is probably your best bet when it comes to the Saturday night games. Should be a competitive battle by two tough teams. North Kitsap has a better record at 4-1 but I expect Capital to win the game. They do have two losses but those are close loses to talented O'Dea and Olympia teams.

Spokane avoids their big matchups for another week; Mt. Spokane's loss to LC last night was probably the best game. Things are getting exciting as conference pictures start to pan out. This week has some quality matchups, but next weekend is shaping up to be the football weekend of the year in Washington…
