This is an early season clash of many people's SPSL favorites. Both teams graduated a lot of talent from last year's playoff squads and will experiment with new pieces tonight.
Central Kitsap vs. Kentwood, 7pm, French Field
Central Kitsap is a favorite in the Narrows and Kentwood always seems to field a good team. A little conference pride will be on the line when these two face off.
Following the Thursday night theme, two SPSL South favorites play a huge game early in the year. Both teams will be looking to build momentum and this early season game could provide it.
Bethel vs. Rogers , 7pm, Rogers
The other two big teams in the SPSL South play in this week one showdown. Whoever did the scheduling in the South has little patience as we should get an early gage on how good these teams are.
Lake Stevens vs. Mariner, 7pm, Lake Stevens
Mariner has one of the best players in the conference in Mychael Tuiasosopo. He will face off against the side open offense of Lake Stevens in this WesCo bout.
Two of the best small schools in the state face off early in the morning. It might be a pain to get to Qwest by 9:30am, but I promise you won't be disappointed in the game you see.
O'Dea vs. Capital, 3pm, Qwest Field
Capital and O'Dea played a great game last season. Both may be down a little this season, but the strong tradition these programs have will prevent them from falling too far.
#1 Skyline vs. Jesuit (Ore.) , 5:30pm, Qwest Field
A showdown between dominant programs from each state. Skyline features the state's best player at QB in Jake Heaps. He alone will be worth the price of admission.
#3 Bothell vs. Issaquah, 8pm, Qwest Field
This game may be the most intriguing of the whole week. Bothell is reloaded and ready for another state run. Issaquah is a bit of a mystery. They graduated a lot of talent, but still have the weapons to win football games. How good will Issaquah be? This game may tell us.
Feel free to let me know how the games you attend go on our message boards. Have a fun weekend of football…
