ESP Interview: Diondre Toms

Renton (Wash.) Lindbergh prospect Diondre Toms has been busy as of late. ESP caught up with him to chat about his recruiting and recent camp schedule…

You mentioned you attended the Nike camp in Oregon this past weekend, how was it?
It was great, a lot of fun, and I think I got better.

What drills did they have you guys doing?
Most of it was working on our footwork and flexibility… working on our hips.

Did you know many of the guys down there?
Yea, a couple guys that I knew, Chandler Jenkins and Jake Bainton from Liberty. Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Michael Thomas, a guy I met at the Vegas passing tournament.

What was the best part about going to the camp?
Probably the best part is meeting other players and learning more drills on how to improve my game.

Have you been hearing from any schools recently?
Yea, Washington State coaches stopped by the school this week to talk to my coach.

Which coach stopped by?
Coach Travis Niekamp, he coaches linebackers but he recruits my area. He talked to coach for a while and they really want me to schedule a visit and commit.

Do you have any plans for a visit?
Yea, I'm going to visit on June 20th. I think I am headed over with Max Hersey from Curtis. He is already committed.

When we spoke before you indicated you wanted to wait a while to make a decision, is that still the plan?
Yea, but I'm getting more 50/50 on it… WSU is showing the most love of all the schools… So I'm still open right now but if they keep showing me as much love then I might decide to commit earlier.

Do you have any other camps scheduled this spring/summer?
Yea, I'm going to Nike camp at Oregon State. Also, Boise State, WSU, and UW team camps.
