Players to Watch
RB Alex Stepanchenko, Glacier Peak, Sr.
Stepanchenko, a first team running back, is also a talented defensive back. He will have a tougher time running the ball this season with 3 all-league lineman graduated.
WR Tanner Southard, Glacier Peak, Sr.
Southard was a first team all-league selection last year. With QB Zach Richter gone the deep Glacier Peak receiving core may have a tougher time getting the ball.
DB/WR Jack Bonner, Glacier Peak, Sr.
Bonner was first team all-league on both sides of the ball. He is the third skill position player on the list for GP.
DL Nick Sage, Glacier Peak, Sr.
Sage was a first team all-league selection. He is the only up front payer returning to a talented GP team.
OL Owen Fritz, Mountlake Terrace, Sr.
Fritz was all-league in the 4A division last year. Mountlake Terrace should be good this year and Owen is a big reason why.
ILB Dom Donaghy, Shorecrest, Sr.
Donaghy is a returning all-league performer for a Shorecrest team that went 3-7 last season.
OLB Kyler Larsen, Meadowdale, Jr.
Larsen was the only sophomore to be named to any of the all-league teams. Should only get better as he continues to mature and gain experience.
LB Mitch Haldane, Mountlake Terrace, Sr.
Haldane is a stopper that should be a real leader for a Mountlake Terrace team that should be thinking playoffs.
DL Luke Frauenholtz, Everett, Sr.
Frauenholtz and the rest of Everett will try and get over the hump this season after they split their conference games last year.
9/3, Oak Harbor at Mountlake Terrace
9/9, Meadowdale at Lindbergh (Non-League)
9/24, Meadowdale at Mountlake Terrace
9/25, Lake City (Id.) at Glacier Peak (Non-League)
10/1, Meadowdale at Glacier Peak
10/8, Glacier Peak at Mountlake Terrace
WesCo 3A Champ: Glacier Peak
Meadowdale and Glacier Peak were the class of the conference last year. Both teams will be replacing their starting quarterbacks as well as some talented linemen. Mountlake Terrace drops down as has some talent on both sides of the ball. I think it will be a three team race, between the teams listed above. Glacier peak has enough talent at the skill positions to break in a new quarterback. Oak Harbor is an interesting team to watch; only a few years ago they were making playoff runs in 4A. If they can rebuild they may see that type of success in 3A.
