Central Valley is a contender in the 4A race and Mt. Spokane is the 3A favorite. This should be a competitive game, as is every week in the GSL. Both teams could use a win as a platform for a great season.
Capital vs. #9 O'Dea, 7pm, O'Dea
Capital has been a consistent team over the past few years. Expect a staunch defense and great running game. In the end, I think O'Dea has too much talent spread around the field. O'Dea has one of the strongest returning defenses in the state.
This is the game of the week and maybe the season. The big question revolves around sophomore quarterback Max Browne. Can he play well enough at the quarterback position to allow his talented teammates to take over? Where Skyline has uncertainty, Liberty has confidence. Senior signal caller Trey Wheeler is one of the best in the state. Along with Jake Bainton and Chandler Jenkins they form one of the most potent offenses around. This is as vulnerable as Skyline has been in years, can someone finally knock them off?
Marysville-Pillchuck vs. Jackson, 7pm, Jackson
Pillchuck and Jackson have been the top two teams in the WesCo for a couple of years. However, both teams have gigantic holes to fill on both sides of the ball. They are great programs and the winner of this game will be the one that has best prepared new players for their role on Friday night.
#3 Auburn vs. Kentridge, 7pm, French Field
I think this game could be a blowout. That being said, this should be one of Auburn's tougher tests throughout their SPSL North schedule. Cameron McKernan will have to put on a monster performance if the Chargers have a shot. In the end the Trojan running attack should prove to be too much.
This is a rematch for a couple of teams that have recently faced off in the playoffs. Bellevue has some players to replace and Union has been a strong program in their short history. But, I think that just like times before, the Wolverines will prove to be too much for Union.
Bothell vs. Mission Viejo (Cal.), 8pm, Qwest Field
This one should have been played last year. Bothell is returning only 3 starters from last year's conference champion team. Mission Viejo brings up a talented roster including USC commit Tre Madden. I have a ton of respect for coach Bainter and the Bothell program, but I think they may just be overmatched in this one.
