It’s easy going, welcoming and filled with beer-soaked brats and cold brews. Snow is just another condiment to Madison tailgaters. With the stadium surrounded by student housing, as many tailgates take place in front yards as in the lots. And if you hesitate as you stroll toward the stadium, someone’s going to offer you a chair and hot bowl of chili. Head to Union South an hour before the game to get revved up by the marching band, or go to the grass field north of the stadium to Badgerville for the school-sponsored, family-oriented tailgate filled with live music and bouncy games for the kids. If you want to watch the game on TV with a few thousand other tailgaters, hit State Street downtown or step across from the stadium to the aptly named Stadium Bar, where they convert their parking lot into a massive beer garden complete with giant TV screens.
