CCC is building a major program, Coach Carter and his staff brought the Comets to the top this year, including a win over very tough DeAnza Dons, and went 5-0 in BVC. The East Bay JC schools are really growing, DVC and Laney would be great pre-conference games for Comets.
Is Bay Valley Conference the best fit for this program, looking forward?
Yes only one COMMIT, players are making visits and deciding still. Another player Demetrius Cherry COMMITTED to Arizona State. CCC is on the rise indefinitely, and I personally believe that the Golden Gate Conference would be the move. Coaches Meeting on Saturday brought up discussion of the move to the conference with Sac City and Siskyious RIGHT NOW!! But the 2 year minimum is in effect, and the majority of the conference is out the way
Guys: losing the Solano program was a heartbreaker, still hope this program can come back --I agree completely, CCC and GG Conference would be excellent, but COS and Sac City are Mid-Empire. The COA makes all these decisions from the top down, and they have to look at the entire North State region, as to league assignments. Siskiyous is a very impressive program, and Sac City has their stadium back and I think will be competing again with Sierra and ARC for top local talent. Wasn't their QB Beverly from Solano?
If CCC goes to Golden Gate, someone will need to step down, maybe West Hills Coalinga. But if CCC steps up to Mid-Empire, should be no problem, Mid-Empire had only 4 teams last year, adding a fifth would not hurt anyone. That would be COS, FRC, DVC, Sac City and CCC = MidEmpire 2013.
But what would also really help is if CCC could get 2 of Chabot, Laney, DVC, etc in their pre-conference games --just to build up local rivalries until normal conference restructuring can happen in 2014. And if CCC could get Santa Rosa as one of its NorCal Conference games, and maybe Sierra as the other top league opponent.
East Bay is NATIONAL CHAMP is HS football, no reason why East Bay JCs can't rise to the very top of this level. Local coaches plus Local Talent plus local community support equals championships.
Congratulations to the entire Comet program on a breakthru 2012 season - the sky is the limit! Richmond rocks!
