First, I want to thank those who posted this file of documents. I think all of us who post here need to read this file, before commenting, and base our own statements on what is contained here.
Second, since Dr. Christian has initiated a formal appeal of the SCFA / CCCAA ruling, there is a request from BC for a formal hearing. Such hearings conducted in other matters in California have with them the opportunity for citizens to submit depositions, or other statements relevant to the issue being ruled. In this case, it is likely the program could benefit from documents of support written by people who post here, if those submittals follow the record and the protocols described by all the documents listed in this file. In other words, I hope we can all study this matter closely, write something useful to support the program, and send that to the BC program.
The issues addressed here affect many aspects of community college football in California. For many very obvious political reasons, the SCFA and CCCAA have fundamental legislated policies they must follow. Member schools have both obligations and rights. And at the center of it all are the student athletes and their coaches.
As supporters of community college football, I think we all have an obligation as well --even though articulating letters of support will take very careful efforts.
