Tuggle ready for fresh start

After a standout high school football career in Georgia, current Blinn QB Justin Tuggle (6-4, 230) thought he would spend his college years in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts as a member of the Boston College football program. However, a coaching change made him re-think things and now he's mapping a new path for himself with the Bucs who he's helped lead to a 3-1 record...

"When the coaching change happened, I just didn't feel like I fit into what they were doing, so I left and got a fresh start here," Tuggle told JCFootball.com recently. "Blinn has a big reputation for always having great teams and I felt like if I could come down here and be successful, that I would get opportunities again.

"I really liked the program and the offense they ran and I knew Cameron Newton from when we were playing high school football and he told me about things here."

So far this season, Tuggle, who is a multi-threat quarterback, has led the Bucs to a 3-1 record and has passed for over 700 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions while rushing for 250 yards and eight more scores.

As far as recruiting is concerned, Tuggle is hearing from a couple of schools, but hopes a big 2010 season will get him more looks.

"Right now I'm just getting letters from Washington, Mississippi State, Southern Miss and a couple of other schools," Tuggle said. "I don't have any offers yet, but I think that's because coaches wanted to get some tape on me and how I've progressed as a player."

Tuggle will finish up his AA degree in December and he'll have two years to play two wherever he ends up.
