Davis says yes to the Orange

Nassau WR DeFarrel Davis (6-3, 175) is an explosive wideout, able to beat DBs off the line with his size or run past them with his speed. After enjoying a standout prep career in Michigan, Davis had offers from a couple D-1 schools, but was unable to make grades and headed east to play for the Lions and now he's made a commitment Syracuse to continue his college football career...

"Yeah, I committed to Syracuse on Monday," Davis told JCFootball.com. "I wanted to make sure I took them up on the offer just in case something happened to me this season."

Last year, as a freshman at Nassau, Davis saw limited reps in the wide receiver rotation and hauled in eight catches for 100 yards and a touchdown, but this fall he's already bettered those marks, hauling in nine receptions for 220 yards and a score.

"My speed helps me a lot, but I like being physical with DBs too," Davis noted. "I like just making plays, so whether that means getting down the field or catching a short pass and using my open-field skills, I can do work either way."

Besides the Orange, Davis was getting looks from the rest of the Big East as well as some MAC and Conference USA schools.

He will graduate in May and he'll have three years to play two once he arrives in Upstate New York.
