Change of heart for Couch?

On Thursday, Garden City DT Maurice Couch (6-2, 295) called the Tennessee coaching staff and committed to the Volunteers. However, after continuing to think about things, he decided he should take his official visit to Knoxville before he officially commits to play ball there...

"I just decided to take a visit there before I make my decision," Couch told late Thursday evening. "I visited South Carolina and thought it was a great place, but there is something about Tennessee I really love.

"I want to visit Tennessee and see things for myself and then I will decide." ducation and play some big-time football there."

Couch has played the three-tech for the Broncbusters this fall after greyshirting last season and has posted 25 tackles and two sacks so far this season.

The talented interior defensive lineman had over 20 offers to his name including USC, Miami, Kansas, Kansas State and Oklahoma State among others.

"I have a great relationship with the coaches (at Tennessee)," Couch said. "I felt like I could go in there after this season and get ready to play ball and I feel like it's the best place for me.

"I called them and all the coaches were going crazy. They were really happy."

Couch said his planned trips to USC and Kansas are now off and he will officially visit Tennesse in early December and "then I'll be done."

Couch will finish up his AA in May and he will have three years to play three wherever he ends up.
