Two new offers in for L.A. Pierce corner

L.A. Pierce CB Clifford Johnson (6-0, 195) has been sitting on one offer since the summer, but recently two more schools came into the picture and a third, this one from the Big East, could be close to offering as well. JCFootball.com got the scoop on the new recruiting interest as well as how he feels the season is going so far...

"I got offered by SMU and Kansas State last week," Johnson told JCFootball.com. "I already had the one from Kentucky and South Florida is really recruiting me hard.

"They offered our receiver, Damon Julian, the other day and they really like me, but they want to see some more of my film according to my coach."

Other schools showing interest include Minnesota and Oregon State along with Texas A&M.

As a freshman last season, Johnson posted 16 tackles, one interception and two pass break-ups in eight games.

So far this year, Johnson hasn't been thrown at much, but he's made the most of his opportunities notching 10 tackles and 5 passes defensed on a team that is currently 5-3.

"Teams have been throwing away from me a little this year," Johnson said. "It's frustrating, but you take it as a sign of them being scared of you and feeling like you can make plays if they throw to your side."

Johnson is still on pace to finish up his AA degree in December and he will have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
