Couch close to making his decision

One of the top JUCO defensive tackle prospects in the country this year has been Garden City's Maurice Couch (6-2, 295). He had a great season for the Broncbusters and he's narrowed his focus on recruiting to the SEC and he recently told JCFootball.com that he plans to make a decision in the next few weeks...

"Right now, I'm pretty much getting ready to decide before the end of the month," Couch told JCFootball.com recently. "I'm down to Tennessee and South Carolina and with Florida coming in recently, I'm thinking a little about them too, but Tennessee and South Carolina have been there from the beginning.

"Florida is going to talk to me this week and I think they're going to offer me real soon."

In addition to his offers from Tennessee and South Carolina and the increased interest from Florida, Couch got over 20 offers from schools across the country including USC, Georgia, Kansas, Kansas State, Miami, Mississippi, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M among others.

Couch redshirted in 2009 while getting his academics in order and had an outstanding season for the Broncbusters this fall, posting 45 tackles, 12 tackles-for-loss and three sacks from his defensive tackle position.

"I played good and it was good getting back to playing after missing last season," Couch said. "I'm finishing up some classes and stuff and making sure that's all taken care of and when I'm done with that I'll go wherever I end up committing to and put myself in a position to help out any way that I can."

Couch will sign with a school in December and he will have three years to play three wherever he ends up.
