Recruiting picks up for Bakare

One of the most athletic defensive players in the JUCO ranks this year has been Highland LB Akintunde Bakare (5-11, 215) and he's seen recruiting pick up over the past few weeks now that the Scotties' season is over. caught up with him recently and he updated us on things and gave us some film to take a look at as well...

"Things are starting to pick up now that my season is over," Bakare told recently. "I got my film done and I'm sending that out to some schools."

While a few schools are waiting for film, Bakare is getting heavy interest from a handful of others and two could be close to extending offers.

"East Carolina likes me and it sounds like in the next week or so, I could be getting an offer from them," Bakare said. "Wyoming also came out and saw us play and told my coaches they like me a lot and could be offering, but they haven't yet.

"The other schools that are showing me interest are Tennessee State, Toledo and Kansas State and Gardner Webb.

"Most schools like me as a strong safety and that's where I'm going to play when I get to the next level."

Bakare, playing outside linebacker for the Scotties, finished the season with 62 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery while being named 2nd Team All-KJCCC.

The talented athlete is on pace to finish up his AA in December and he will have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
