Lamaison will take visits in January

In his first go-round at Mt. San Antonio, QB Nick Lamaison (6-1, 200) lit up the scoreboard and was one of the top JUCO signal-callers in the country. After spending the 2009 season at Tennessee, he decided to return to Walnut, California to seek out new opportunities and now is on the verge on leading the Mounties to their second-straight State Championship...

"Things are really good," Lamaison told recently. "When I left Tennessee, it was just a chance for me to get a fresh start since there was a coaching coaching change.

"I started thinking about things and just decided I needed to get a fresh start and coming back here to Mt. San Antonio, where I had so much success, was just the right decision for me."

In 2008, in his first stint with the Mounties, Lamaison led them to a 10-1 record by completing 66.7% of his passes for over 3,200 yards, 35 touchdowns and only six interceptions and this season has been more of the same with him completing 277 of 466 attempts (59.4%) for 3,770 yards with 29 touchdowns and 10 interceptions and leading them to a perfect 12-0 record and a berth in the State Championship Game against City College of San Francisco on December 11th.

"Because I was here before, there was a real comfort level when I got back here," Lamaison said. "I already knew the staff and the system, so that was a big thing and some of the guys who are sophomores now were guys that greyshirted or redshirted the first year I was here, so I already had a familiarity with them."

On the recruiting front, Lamaison has three offers and plans to set up his official visits for January to check out his options.

"Louisiana Tech and Wyoming have offered and they want me to visit," Lamaison said. "I talked with coach (Mike) Price from UTEP and they want to get me down there for a visit too, so they are another school I could be checking out."

Because of his 4-2-4 status, Lamaison must complete his AA degree and plans to do that in early 2011. He will have two years to play two wherever he ends up.
