Brun still solid to Iowa State

One of the top JUCO tight ends in the entire country this season has been Mt. San Antonio's Ernst Brun (6-4, 224). As an explosive playmaker for one of the top programs in the country, the talented prospect has gotten attention from FBS schools across the country. He committed to Iowa State and is set to sign with the Cyclones in February, but could end up taking some visits before signing day...

Brun was a standout at Shiloh High School in Atlanta, Georgia and wanted to get a chance to play college football, so he headed west to try and gain some attention.

"They play great football out here," Brun told JCFootball.com earlier this week. "I just liked the atmosphere and getting with a good staff with a great offense and that's what I've had here at Mt. SAC."

As a freshman last fall, Brun hauled in 12 receptions for 278 yards and three touchdowns while helping the Mounties win a National Championship and this season he's been just as explosive while also being much more productive posting 44 receptions for 479 yards and three touchdowns.

"They split me out a lot, but I can play on the end of the line too," Brun noted. "I work hard at getting open and I have the speed and quickness to hurt safeties or linebackers when they try and cover me."

On the recruiting front, Brun got an early offer from Iowa State and committed soon thereafter, but now says he may visit at least two more schools showing interest.

"I really am happy I'm committed to Iowa State, but I still want to visit Kansas State and Nevada before I sign," Brun said. "It's more about just finding the right place for me. I feel like that's Iowa State, but you can't be sure until you see other places, so I just want to see what they have to offer and compare them to ISU.

"I committed to them because of their graduation rates and the way they use their tight ends. I feel I can fit into their system well."

In addition to the offer from the Cyclones and the heavy interest from Nevada and Kansas State, Brun also claims offers from Memphis, Florida Atlantic, Alabama State and Alabama A&M.

Brun will finish up his AA degree in May and he will have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
