Things are heating up for Highland's Bakare

Highland S Tunde Bakare (5-11, 215) has seen recruiting kick into high-gear over the past few weeks. The talented defensive prospect has two offers to his name and visits set up to those schools and more schools could be getting into the mix very soon...

"East Carolina just offered me the other day and Kansas just offered me a full ride, so I've got those two right now plus some smaller schools have offered too," Bakare told JCFootball.com recently. "I'm visiting ECU on January 14th and KU on January 21st, those are my two visits so far and then I'm hearing a lot from some other schools who said they are coming to see me really soon."

Those schools include Boise State, Ole Miss, Arkansas and, surprising, Michigan who called and requested his film and transcripts.

"Things are getting crazy, but it's good," Bakare noted. "I mean, I could have no one calling and that wouldn't be good, so this is a good thing. I'm just trying to keep it all straight.

"I have to take an extra algebra class and two more classes to graduate and be eligible to play at all those schools, so that's where my focus will be next quarter."

Bakare, playing outside linebacker for the Scotties, finished the season with 62 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery while being named 2nd Team All-KJCCC.

He noted that most schools are looking to bring him in as a strong safety so he can use his 4.37 speed to cover backs and tight ends while being a stabalizing force against the run with his sure-tackling ability.

Bakare will finish up his AA degree in March and will have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
