Scott is mulling over his options

Golden West DT Dontae Scott (6-4, 290) has some decisions lying ahead of him. While he's waiting on a couple of schools that have shown him a lot of interest, he's already taken one official visit to a WAC program and he's hoping to take at least one more before he makes a decision on where he will continue his college football career...

Scott prepped at Leilehua High School in Wahiawa, Hawaii and was a non-qualifier out of high school. He was looking for a place to play and settled on Golden West.

"I'm a military kid, so I wasn't really from Hawaii, I just went to high school there," Scott told recently. "I was at the a Combine in California and the coaches saw me and said I had a place to play for them and that was just about it."

Scott was a beast for Golden West this past season, posting 31 tackles, 6.5 tackles-for-loss and five sacks helping his team post a 6-4 record in the regular season.

"I mainly played on the nose in our base scheme, but against passing teams sometimes I played the three (technique) so I could rush the quarterback," Scott said. "I do well against the run or the pass. I just use my size and strength to beat the guy in front of me and just make plays for my team."

On the recruiting front, Scott is a player who has garnered some attention, but he's still mulling over his options.

"I've been offered by Idaho and I visited there last weekend," Scott said. "It was a real good visit. I got to sit down with the coaches, see the campus, get to know some of the guys there and just get a feel for things there.

"Kansas State has really been on me a lot and they are close to offering. My coach thinks they could do it at any time and if they do, I want to visit there before I decide.

"I talked to New Mexico State and Arizona during my season, but I don't know if they are still interested or not."

Scott will finish up his AA in May and he will have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
