Ross enjoys visit to Ole Miss

Butte always produces a lot of D-1 talent and this year is no different. One player who started for the Roadrunners last fall, CB Josh Ross (5-11, 205), is waiting on an offer so he can fulfill his dreams and this past weekend he took a visit to Mississippi to check out what the Rebels had to offer...

"It was a real good visit for me," Ross told "(Mississippi) hasn't offered me yet, but they like me a lot. They said they are still evaluating things and I am one of the top guys they are considering."

Ross enjoyed a solid prep career in Louisiana and signed with Louisiana Tech. After redshirting there in 2009, he encountered some academic issues and headed west to get thing straight in the classroom and to play for one of the top JUCO programs in the country.

"I locked it up man-to-man this year," Ross said. "We play a lot of man-to-man and matchup, so I was outside on the top receiver a lot."

As a redshirt freshman, Ross posted 39 tackles and two picks for the Roadrunners, using his outstanding strength and 4.3 speed to shut opposing wideouts down.

"It was a good season for me," Ross said. "I liked playing out here and going against some of the top guys in JC football.

"It helped me improve a lot and I feel like I'm ready to make the move to the next level."

In addition to the interest from Mississippi, Ross is hearing from schools like Tennessee, Middle Tennessee, Houston, TCU and Oregon State, but he's unsure of their interest.

"I'm probably not going to sign on February 2nd," Ross said. "I need to take some more visits and just see where things stand. I also need to get some offers and that's what I'm hoping for now."

Ross will finish up his AA degree this May and he will have three years to play three wherever he ends up.
