Grossmont WR waiting on some schools

One of the top unsigned sophomores available right now is Grossmont WR Alex McLeland (6-4, 200). JCFootball.com caught up with the talented wideout recently and he updated us on things including which D-1 schools are currently giving his highlights a long look and could be bringing him in on a trip very soon…

"Right now I'm just waiting," McLeland told JCFootball.com. "I've been talking to San Diego State the past week or so and I might have a chance at walking on there, I'm not really sure yet.

"Nevada has been asking for my tape and transcripts and Middle Tennessee is talking to me a little right now and they could be getting me to take a trip, but I'm still sorta waiting on them and they said they would be making some decisions this week."

McLeland had planned to visit Cal-Poly recently, but they received commitments from two high school receivers, so their interest tailed off.

"It sucks, but it's the reality of my situation right now," McLeland noted. "I'll just see what happens with Nevada and Middle Tennessee and then if those don't pan out, I'll see about walking on at San Diego State."

As a freshman in 2009, McLeland used his outstanding size, soft hands and crisp route-running ability to post 15 receptions for 213 yards and two touchdowns and this season, the gifted wideout led the Gauchos with 45 receptions and 662 yards and tied for the team lead with seven touchdowns as well.

McLeland already has his two-year degree and can sign at any time. He will have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
