Pearl River's Roberts ready for big 2011

The country is loaded with talented JUCO wideouts for the 2011 class, but a young man who promises to be in the discussion this fall as one of top receivers in the country promises to be Pearl River's Seth Roberts (6-3, 190) and he's hard at work already preparing for a big season next fall. JCFootball.com spoke to the sure-handed prospect and he updated us on things...

Roberts was a standout prep in Talahassee, Florida but was unable to qualify for a D-1 scholarship so when looking around for a JUCO program to hook on with, he chose to head to Pearl River, a school with a reputation of producing quite a few D-1 prospects.

"I wanted to stay as close to home as I could and my high school coach, he got me in there," Roberts told JCFootball.com recently. "It's got a great reputation and it really got me focused on the things I needed to focus on -- school and getting better every day."

As a freshman, Roberts led Pearl River in receiving yards (733) and touchdowns (6) and finished second in receptions with 44.

"They used me a lot on deep balls, but I started running more intermediate stuff as the season went along," Roberts said. "I'm working this offseason on getting a lot stronger so I can get off press-coverage better and be more explosive."

So far, Roberts hasn't received much attention from four-year schools, but hopes a good spring and summer will result in a lot more attention.

"I just want to find a good school for me and a good situation," Roberts noted. "I love to play football and I feel like I can play at the highest level."

Roberts is taking a full course-load this semester -- 21 hours -- in order to ensure he can sign in December. He will have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
