Jackson was a standout prep at South Dade (Homestead, Fl.) High School, but when he was unable to qualify for a scholarship, he decided to take his game north in order to get a fresh start on his academics.
"My coach knew the coach up (at Joliet) and he said I needed to go to get focused on things," Jackson told JCFootball.com. "I wanted to play ball and get my grades set so I could play ball at the next level and felt like Joliet was where I could do that."
As a freshman last fall, Jackson showed how explosive he could be when he posted 28 receptions for 529 yards and three touchdowns and he hopes to be even more explosive in 2011.
"They rotated me from the 'X' and the 'Z' and even in the slot a little," Jackson said. "My speed and my hands I think are what help me out a lot.
"I run good routes, but I need to get stronger and put on some more size, so that's what I'm doing this offseason."
With his outstanding natural receiving skills, Jackson has already started to garner interest from schools across the country and several have said they are looking forward to seeing him workout this spring.
"Wisconsin has been talking to me a lot and I'm hearing from schools like Mississippi, South Florida, UCLA and UCF," Jackson noted. "I've been talking a lot with the Mississippi coaches a little bit and I spoke recently with the UCF coaches.
"They all want to see me this spring and to talk with me more then. They all said they are looking forward to recruiting me and seeing how I can help them."
Jackson said he's working hard to finish up his AA degree in December and he will have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
